FLORIDA FRONTIER: Everglades Headwaters
An ancient longleaf pine tree, roughly a century old, stands above palmetto and wiregrass savanna in the Nature Conservancy's Disney Wilderness Preserve, which encompasses more than 12,000 acres of valuable upland and wetland habitat in the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, the headwaters of the Everglades ecosystem.
