Alto "Bud" Adams, Jr. is the patriarch of the Adams Ranch in St. Lucie County. By crossing heat tolerant Brahman with more tender Herefords, he created the Braford breed and founded the International Braford Breeders Association in 1969. Adams cattle graze cattle at a density of one cow per four acres but are occasionally rounded up into tight groups for sorting and shipping.
